The Vascular Center
at Carondelet Heart Institute

The Vascular Center at Carondelet Heart Institute is staffed by physicians who are specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral artery disease (PAD). PAD refers to the deposits of fat and calcium that narrow arteries throughout the body. This same process, “artherosclerosis,” narros heart arteries and causes heart attacks. But PAD threatens arteries that supply the limbs and vital organs such as the brain and kidneys. Blocked arteries to the legs can cause pain, tissue damage and even loss of limb. Blocked arteries to the brain can cause stroke. Blocked arteries to the kidneys can cause hypertension and renal failure. Whether the patient requires angioplasty and stent placement, surgery or intensive medical therapy, our team of interventional cardiologists, radiologists and peripheral vascular surgeons work together to tailor the best treatment for the patient. Our personal risk assessment can screen for PAD using the ankle brachial index. To schedule a personal risk assessment, call 816-943-2787.
