A Million Thanks
The Medical Mall Capital Campaign Committee of St. Mary's
Hospital of Blue Springs is pleased to announce to date, $1million has
been pledged to provide life-saving equipment for the new outpatient facility
and renovations to the current facility.
The local funds contributed secured funding for a challenge
grant of $150,000 from The J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The facility expansion will include a new outpatient
services building and expanded space for radiology, laboratory and emergency
services. The first step in the construction project, the new parking
lot, is open.
"We are still working on details involving the financing
for the project," explains Gordon Docking, CEO, St. Mary's Hospital
of Blue Springs. "It's an unusual project because we won't own the
medical mall. A developer, who will lease the building to us, will own
it. After a number of years of lease payments, St. Mary's Hospital will
take ownership."
"It's a bit complicated, so it's taking longer than
expected." But Docking adds, "It is happening, and work will
start as soon as details are finalized."
A special thanks to all of the generous donors--employees,
physicians and members of the community--who have made an investment in
St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs. If you'd like to make a donation,
please contact the Development Office at 816-655-5360.
Classic Fun Fore the Auxiliary
The
St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary continues doing its part in the medical
mall project. Over $54,000 was raised during the annual St. Mary's Golf
Classic held in June. Bayer Diagnostics, as a course contributor, was
the lead donor and helped underwrite the event. A raffle for specialty
gift baskets also raised funds. A golf committee director, Charlene Dunfee
with her team members Janice Alexander, Linda Webb and Sue Rea, enjoy
the day.
