Carondelet Health is finalizing an agreement on a partnership with Ascension Health. As reported in the last issue of HealthWorks, a letter of intent was signed in June.
Here are some facts about Ascension Health:
- It is the nation's largest Catholic health system,
- It is the nation's largest not-for-profit health system (total assets of $8.9 billion),
- It includes 60 hospitals in 15 states and the District of Columbia (Carondelet Health System adds 15 facilities in eight states),
- It is sponsored by four provinces of the Daughters of Charity and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Nazareth.
"Welcoming Carondelet Health System into Ascension Health strengthens our shared commitment to the long and important tradition of Catholic healing in the United States," said Douglas D. French, president and CEO of Ascension Health.
"Through this consolidation we will help ensure the ongoing presence of Catholic care, strategically position Ascension Health in several markets and amplify our voice on behalf of the uninsured and underserved."
