The reviews are in from the first WOW-World of Women's Health Expo held at Saint Joseph Health Center and most participants gave it four stars.
"We really wanted it to be something fun and unique for women," says Janet Milkovich, organizer of the event. "We offered screenings, education, fun and fashion-a different event for a hospital."
More than 300 women attended, which made the wait for the bone density screening and the massage a bit long, but few complained. One participant said she brought her 13-year-old daughter and they were excited about all the activities they could do together. "It was a great mom/daughter day," she said.
The makeovers, photo shoot and fashion show were hits with young and old alike. Other participants raved about the break-out sessions. Topics included child rearing, menopause, sleep disorders, trusting your intuition and self-defense.
"We wanted to appeal to a wide age group," says Milkovich, "and I think everyone found something of interest. In fact, I heard from some people that they wanted to attend many sessions that were happening at the same time!"
Those people will have another chance next year. WOW is scheduled for October 18, 2003.
