Supporters of St. Mary's Hospital turned out in record numbers
to attend An Evening Under the Stars - the annual gala presented
by the Medical and Dental Staff and the Auxiliary of St. Mary's
Hospital. Held on Saturday, March 6th, at the Adams Pointe Conference
Center, the event raised a net amount of $103,117 to provide the
highest quality healthcare for Blue Springs and surrounding communities.

Guests celebrated the gala's 17th year with an elegant evening
filled with fabulous food, good friends and dancing to the music
of Private Stock. The event also featured unique raffle and
live auction items that brought additional contributions to the
hospital, including a special Fund-a-Need Auction which generated
$10,200 for the purchase of bassinets and sleeper couches for the
Birthing Center.

Join us for Healthy Food & Good Wine
The Saint Joseph Health Center Foundation's eagerly anticipated
Healthy Food & Good Wine event returns on May 1st 2004.
Co-chairmen Spencer Kerley, MD and Thad Stephens, MD and the event
Steering Committee are planning an evening at Oakwood Country Club
featuring wine tasting, gourmet food, fabulous entertainment and
one-of-a kind raffle items. Also, guests may purchase cases of their
favorite wines that evening. Proceeds from the event will support
the expansion of the Saint Joseph Health Center Emergency Room,
the Pain Management Clinic and the Senior Clinic. For more information,

New Staff Members Join the Foundations
St. Mary's Hospital Foundation welcomes Shelley Powell as senior
development officer. Shelley will oversee all of St. Mary's Hospital
Foundation fundraising activities including the Evening Under the
Stars Gala, the St. Mary's Hospital Golf Classic and major donor
campaigns.
Shelley comes to the Foundation from Junior Achievement of Middle
America where she was vice president of marketing and development.
She has experience in fundraising, corporate sponsorship, program
development, communications and public relations.
Doris Reed joins the Saint Joseph Health Center Foundation office
as the department assistant. Doris recently served at St. Mary's
Hospital in the areas of education and human resources. Before coming
to St. Mary's Hospital, Doris worked as the executive assistant
at Hope House in Independence. Doris is a Georgia native who moved
to Kansas City in 1999.
