St. Mary's Heart Center is conveniently located in the front of St. Mary's Medical Center. We are able to provide service to outpatients as well as inpatients in an environment that is conducive to easy accessibility and improved efficiency in our delivery of care.

Non-Invasive Services
Upon entering the department, patients are greeted at the front desk in Non-Invasive Cardiology Services. All outpatient appointments are coordinated and scheduled by the hospital centralized scheduling department. Testing performed here includes all treadmill stress tests, i.e., walking stress tests as well as pharmacological stress tests, 24 hours holter monitors, transthoracic echocardiograms as well as stress echocardiograms. Transesophageal echocardiograms are coordinated with the Cath Lab and are performed in the Cath Lab.

Invasive Services
The Invasive Services provided in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab include diagnostic left heart catheterizations, combined right and left heart caths, renal and peripheral angiograms and angioplasty as well as swan- ganz insertion, temporary pacemaker placement, permanent pacemaker implants, tilt table tests and cardioversions. A patient scheduled for a heart cath as an outpatient can arrive to the holding area, be worked up and prepared to have the test within an hour of arriving to the area.

We have recently expanded our services in the Cath Lab to include PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention). This service allows us to deliver a higher level of cardiovascular care to the community. The only exception is that coronary artery bypass surgery requires transferring to another facility. We strive to accommodate patient preference and insurance requirements, therefore, if circumstances allow, we arrange for a transfer to the Carondelet Heart Institute at our sister hospital St. Joseph Medical Center.
