Quality Measures
In our ongoing efforts to provide the best care possible to our patients, Carondelet Health voluntarily reports Quality Measures to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Missouri Hospital Association (MHA).
Both of our acute-care facilities provide results of their performance on best practice guidelines. These guidelines are developed through national research by physicians and scientists on recommended care for patients with heart attacks, heart failure and pneumonia. Such care practices may include the administration of needed medicine, treatments or tests at prescribed times. As participating hospitals, performance results of St. Joseph and St. Mary’s Medical Centers for heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia are included in a national report. With this report, you can compare the quality of care provided at our hospitals to other hospitals in the area.
The data is available on the CMS Website http://www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov (enter Kansas City, Mo., then choose the hospitals you wish to compare).
Our medical centers also participate in a Hospital Quality Demonstration Project with CMS and Premier Inc. This project includes coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery and total hip/total knee surgery. These graphs compare St. Joseph and St. Mary’s to other hospitals participating in this project around the nation for hip/knee and CABG surgeries.
